The final ALMS race and 16th Petit Le Mans saw the debut of 8 Star’s LMPC program. With drivers Ozz Negri and Sean Rayhall being new to the highly competitive PC class the event was shaping up as a big challenge. Both drivers and the team worked hard all week to get used to the car, the track, and ALMS pit stop routines. The work paid off, as Rayhall was able to qualify the car P5, and 8 Star started the race P4 after the RSR car was disqualified. Opening the race with unpredictable weather, the #25 car actually wound up leading the entire race for a while, as the various LMP1 and 2 cars were forced to pit for tire changes. As the race went on 8 Star built a solid lead in the PC class but after some untimely full course cautions resigned the lead to the eventual race winner 8 car of BAR1 Motorsports. In the end the 8 Star entry came in second in class and 6th overall, a fantastic result for a new team looking to build some momentum for a full-time LMPC campaign next year in the debut of the Tudor USCC series.
